Beauty
Via Pulchritudinis
We are hard-wired to appreciate beauty because it's like a homing beacon to find the most beautiful thing, which is God. Via Pulchritudinis (The Way of Beauty) uses this same concept of using the experience of beauty, particularly in art and liturgy, as a way to lead people closer to God. Through the Cubao Catherdal Walking Tour, visitors will learn about Scripture and Liturgy expressed in architecture and artifacts.

Author
A Project by the Cathedral Rector
Fr. Steven Zabala, parish priest of the Cubao Cathedral, is the driving force behind the Walking Tour, shaping it to serve not only parishioners but also pilgrims of the 2025 Jubilee Year. Recognizing the Cathedral’s rich history and sacred treasures, he envisioned the tour as more than just a walk through art and architecture but also as pilgrimage experience. Fr. Steve hopes that every visitor will leave not only informed but deeply edified, having encountered God through the Cathedral’s stories, beauty, and faith-filled heritage silently told by the art inside and outside its walls. Under his guidance, the tour has become a path where history meets grace, inviting all to draw closer to Christ.
Three songs were composed for the tour. The one featured here is "You are all beautiful, Mary" was composed in honor of the Immaculate Conception Stained Glass window at the rear of the Church. The words lyrics are from the antiphon used in the liturgical Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.

Written by a lay evangelist
The walking tour is the brainchild of Joby Próvido, who finished his Theology courses in Doctrine, Scripture, Liturgy, and Catechism from the satellite program of the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA. He’s written several books on Catholic themes, such as A Sky Full of Stars: Know Our Lady Through Her Titles in the Litany; 100 Things Every Catholic Should Know; Beyond The Veil: Contemplating the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary; and the bestseller on Amazon used in Catholic Schools in the USA, Typology for Beginners. He runs a Catholic Blog called The Catholic Talks, which has a website, YouTube Channel, and Spotify Podcast. For three years he had a segment-series on Radyo Veritas. His obsession is explaining the Faith using art, and the Cubao Cathedral is full of artifacts with deep symbolism – and it was natural for him to see how the art of the Cubao Cathedral can draw people closer to God if the meaning behind them is explained.
